Pretty rough. This is why people should hire a Flooring installer, not the jackass of all trades. Several of those areas are pretty tricky to repair.

In almost all those areas it is too close to the wall. There is supposed to be a 1/4 inch gap between the flooring and the wall. The area on the dmall wall where you probably think it is bad because it is uneven, it is fine and base will cover it.

I agree, baseboard will cover most of the gaps. Maybe you will need quarter round also on some of the larger gaps but it really depends on the baseboard thickness. The little gaps around some of the trim won’t be as noticeable once everything else if moved into the house

What will happen if you leave flooring too close to the wall? Inexperienced and curious

When the flooring expands it will buckle. Causing other issues.

Floating floors move. They expand and contract, so if it's too close to the wall, it will buckle the material and possibly crack the lips, causing issues later on.

A lot of messed up stuff here but flooring needs space all around and cover the gap with trim. “Butting” it up to the cabinets is not how it’s done.

The cabinets is no excuse but most of those there is no wall

Baseboards are going in after the flooring is done

Flooring goes under the door jamb. I’m guessing baseboards are going on top of floor. You need that gap between the floor and wall. Some of the cuts along that pass though with the door jamb should have been done under.

Hack job

I came here to say this. Hack job! Most will be covered by the walls and quarter round. Pic #1 is just awful.

From that photo of the bx wire hanging loose with the 2 prong outlet on it, you might wanna spend some money upgrading the parts of your house you can’t see before dropping thousands on finishes

If you called me, I’d recommend redoing the entire thing and get your money back.

If he replaced subflooring without you knowing what he used, then my professional opinion would be to tear it all out and have it redone, if he had a license, I would say to have him redo it, or get another company to charge his insurance for the work to be redone. If he does not have a license, maybe talk to your real estate agent about absorbing some costs for the flooring as it was their fault for giving you someone so unprofessional in a house they sold you.

Yeah that’s definitely rough. Some what expensive lesson. Not the worst case scenario, like removing a load bearing wall. I second, third whatever number we’re on to have it replaced and done right. Lots of ways to verify someone knows what they’re doing. Definitely never trusting that Realitor again, if she gave you the referral on the home inspector I would have that redone as well.

This is a clear example of someone with no experience. It’s not up to the wall In the first pic bc he couldn’t transition the doorway. The lips are because he did t know how to engage it under a door way. Should have undercut the jamb and slid it under. It’s hard to tell how far it is from the cabinet, but In all fairness you’re not supposed to but a floating floor, and the locking mechanism makes it hard to bet fit. Generally the toe kick needs to be taken off, floor laid them out back on or scribe or qtr round

1

And why did he need to put plywood down? What was wrong with the original subfloor? If it was about leveling he should have skim coated or self leveled the whole floor. And I’d that is laminate or lvp $2K for 865 ft of just installation, a bad one at that, is robbery

I was a salesman and then inspector for one of those big name flooring companies about 15 years ago.

From what I can see, I have come to the conclusion that this is a shit job.
