[KAL] December Announcement, 2012 Wrap up, and 2013 Planning!
What’s a KAL?
It’s a knit along. we all work the same pattern, and post progress pictures, etc. There are prizes. For a run down on how we run them, please see this post.
December's KAL
So. It’s November 20th, and you haven’t voted on December’s pattern for the December knit along yet. Nervous? Well, seeing how we all have so much time in November and December, I decided this month is a free-for-all with some limitations.
Not surprisingly, the chosen theme for December was “ornaments”, and with that, I present to you the patterns.

Ok, now that you’re panicking that I’m making you knit 25 things this month, let me clarify: There is no one set pattern for December. Pick one, or two, or fifteen that you want to make, and make them. Regardless of how many you make, it will count as one entry into the prize drawings, with one exception. If you make all 25, you will an entry into a special random draw for this oh so pretty holiday yarn.
Ornaments are small, quick, and should be fun, and I encourage you to challenge yourself and try something new. Ever wanted to make a sweater but was afraid? Well, now you can make an itty bitty one as your first. Use up those leftover balls of yarn you found at the back or your closet, or were given by your neighbour’s friend’s grandma, and get knitting!
EDIT: Ravelry thread: http://www.ravelry.com/discuss/reddit-knitters/topics/2368934
EDIT 2: Standard Prizes still apply. 2x random draw for a year of reddit gold and some reddit stickers, 1x a year of reddit gold, reddit stickers, reddit yarn. The holiday yarn prize winner will also get gold and stickers.
Feedback on 2012’s KALs
What worked? What didn’t? What should we do differently? Here is a thread we’ve had some discussions in already.
A HUGE thank you to everyone who helped go from 20 patterns a month down to 5 or 6 for public voting.
Planning for 2013’s KALs
- What should we make and when?
- Have pattern ideas? Patterns should be free, and preferably Ravelry downloads.
- Want to help pick what patterns we vote on?
I will try to be around to answer questions, be delays will be delayed today.
