1k bonus points or Exec Lounge

I will be staying at Hilton near Chicago tomorrow. They do have a restaurant on site. I received a message welcoming me and that I have the option of 1,000 bonus points or executive lounge access. I thought the options are supposed to be bonus points or f&b credit?

I booked a king room, have gold, and I am staying 4 night for a conference (with special conference pricing). Has anyone else been given executive lounge access when booking a regular room)? Is this normal?

Yes I did take the lounge. I just hadn't heard of lounge access being offered as one of the options and was curious if this normal

F&B credit is in lieu of lounge access; when their isn't one or it's closed.

The question is pretty funny in most cases.

We have this awesome breakfast here. Would you and your partner like that or enough points for nothing at all? What will it be?

I did! I just didn't think I could get into the exec lounge if I booked a normal room

Hey, if they're offering, yes! At minimum you get drinks and snacks.

I was checking into Conrad or something and the front gave me an option of breakfast credit or 1K point. Didn't even make sense. Converted to cash, 1K points wasn't even a tenth of the breakfast credit. I don't know who came up with that promotion. With the Hilton credit cards and bonus are structured, you walk into a Hilton and you start tripping over points and multipliers anyway. It was the most obvious, no-brainer choice in the world.
