Im not getting my security deposit back

My apartment has she her pronouns
In the same way that russia does
And I gilded her
Made romanov ostentation out of her
I got her a couch
A fancy, footed, falling apart and un fucking comfortable couch to make her a fancy home
I loved her, (and the couch)
And she was in the same breath unlovable
Every feature I praised was a patch i made in the fucking drywall.
I loved the bathroom even as it was a post war rotted nightmare
I polished those tiles till they shined
I know theres only rot behind
I LOVED HER IN WAYS THE LANDLORD NEVER WILL

And were breaking up
Im taking a train from moskow
And pulling into probably south boston

You rarely forget your first
And I wont lie
She was a bear

What a great poem!! I love how it does justice to the feelings that surround renting a home. I really enjoyed reading this and would love to see how it looks on paper with line breaks!!

Oh my! This was a captivating read! I love the parallels drawn between loving something that you can never be yours. Loving something you know is awful, but you love it just the same.

I love this poem so much!! The way you compare your apartment to a beloved home country and a past lover is great. I love how casual the poem feels while having these metaphors that feel very well fleshed out and explored.
