I feel sorry for what they did to Akane's character. I think the character has good potential, but there are some things that make me angry with her. But precisely from her development. We met her with a very important fact of how toxic and evil the internet can be, making us do extreme things. And this is a super necessary topic. However, >it seems that this cause was only used for pity. since they screwed everything up afterwards. Facts I didn't like was turning Akane into someone without self-respect. She knows that Aqua is using her and she accepts it. And she also wants to take revenge for something that has nothing to do with her because of him. I, as an author and reader with depression, would rather see her with a little more self-love. And I hope there is that change. If not, she's going to be a character who could learn and teach readers so much, that she's had a big chance thrown away. People are childishly fighting over who gets Aqua. However, even though I ship Aqua and Kana. I think the biggest issue that should be taken into consideration in Akane was this fact. The character has so much more to show and I hope she and Kana TB don't just focus on Aqua, who needs therapy ASAP.<

I get it. She wants to help you. But it's still a little dangerous for her to put herself in danger like that. I realize now how all the main characters in the manga are very self-destructive. I understand her point, but I still find it problematic. Mainly because she imitates Ai. As if she wants to change who she is, just to get closer to him. I understand that she wants to show her gratitude. But how much will she give of herself for this? It's an interesting thing to think about too. I don't usually like characters like that, who are molded by others. maybe that's why this event bothered me a lot.
Hmm... but was she acting like Ai >!after they got serious? Seemed to me that was more her armor in public and that she was acting normal in private. We never really saw her acting much like Ai when it was just the two of them.!<
In my opinion, it's more like she breaks the limit when acting as Ai. Since then, she had that magic even when playing other characters. She wouldn't be as good actress if she's a one-trick pony who can only act as Ai, and Ai is not that versatile.
As the story progress, she also changes the mask she wore for public. It's no longer "pure" Ai immitation, but she change it to her own characters, making it hers.
Also, there's really obsession with purity isn't it. Not just in this series, but anime audience seems to have this obsession about things have to be "genuine" and came only from inside the character. Even though the characters live in a society.
As for relationship, it seems different. Yes, she first imitate Ai because Aqua said that's his type (and even then, he's treating it like just a joke between casts). But she soon change from begging to be loved, into doing it for herself. Yes, opinions obsessed on how love must be "clean" and "pure" would accuse it as selfish and bad, but what's so bad. The important thing is how they would overcome it when that became an issue in their relationship, even if the answer is breaking up.
Of course there will be priority, especially when she's dating Aqua. But the exposition showed she has her career and social relationship, so her life doesn't centred on Aqua. Aka probably think the readers don't need to see the details, it's enough to tell it in exposition.
i agree, shes a public figure so who cares if she's not 'pure' or genuine? her job is to act and putting on a mask after her suicide attempt is a good thing. fans and the public aren't entitled to see the 'real' her. the only time she acts like ai around aqua is when she was asked to, after that she is her normal self around him. aqua would've mentioned it by now if akane was still imitating ai around him since he's very observant
I mean the readers. Not just for this series, if the character have any "selfish" desire in their relationship with other, it's already enough to dismiss them or the relationship as "not right".
Same with if an action taken by the character is influenced by other, then suddenly they're branded as not having independent thought and decision making, being manipulated, the feeling is not real/pure.
That kind of obsession.
