El Alamein a questionably designed map
I see the map coming, go Germany and let that mg42 rip. I'm clearing matches with 50-100 kills, average kill distance around the 300m mark, but landing kills up to 500m and often locking down the best points of advance to the centre caps, effectively stalling enemy attacks. Anyone else finding this map feeling horrendously imbalanced? Kursk and Foy are the only maps I could compare it to, but neither are as bad for mg42, long range sniping.
Edit in response to a few common responses:
Okay, so to clarify some elements, I'm not a good player - I normally get 10-30 kills on a good day. To be raking in these kills at these distances is an issue in map design, anyone can do it with the way the MG42 fires in prone stance, it's essentially a laser beam you wait for your enemy to run into.
There needs to be more ruins, tank debris, deeper or narrower ravines to travel through undetected by tanks, mg's or environmental dust obfuscation a certain distance out so you can't see up to those distances, idk, just anything else but this.
I am not however saying I don't like the map, the Africa campaign is really interesting and they chose an interesting battle, but when a singular weapon can so singularly tilt the tide of battle, it's evidence of bad balance. Myself and three friends jumped on last night, sat in Discord and took up four mg roles and figured out how to lock down any bit of movement up to 500m out from Oasis.
The force multiplier of the MG42 on this particular design of this map turns 4 people into an insurmountable force against 50 and that is not okay in terms of balance.
On the other hand, quite a fan of Driel.
