Ok, hear me out but Garmadon technically had a point
So I know as a kids' show, Ninjago plays fast and loose with rules and laws and stuff, but since Garmadon is the son of the First Spinjitzu Master, Ninjago's creator and the realm's equivalent of God, if he had gone about things the right way, would anyone have actually contested him if he took over?
Unless the FSM specifically stated when he put the first emperor in power that his sons/descendants couldn't seek power over Ninjago themselves, as the FSM's first born Garmadon would technically have a higher claim over Ninjago, especially since the entire royal family died during the events of Season 8.
Because there was no more royal family, Garmadon technically had the right to claim Ninjago's throne as Harumi, the adopted heir, didn't want it. Yes, it's a little iffy since he was dead and then resurrected with dark magic and stuff, but the argument could be made that his reign, however tyrannical, was in fact legitimate.
Of course, there's also the fact that he was overthrown by his own son. And if Garmadon's rule was legit, then technically Lloyd would've been his rightful heir. And since it was Lloyd who spearheaded the coup against him, it would've been within his right to take the throne himself.
So, by technicality, that would make Lloyd the new Emperor of Ninjago. I had to put this out there because I couldn't get my mind off of it.
