Landlord trying to raise rent

My landlord has be trying to raise the rent by claiming my two year lease actually ended because HE said it was a one year . But I actually signed a two year lease , which actually hasn't ended yet. It's ending in Nov of this year . He's claiming it ended last Nov. I've been signing two year leases since 2010. I never signed a one year lease ever. He's trying to do this to other tenants as well . He puts that the lease expires in a year even if you check that it's a two year lease. Is this legal ? Is he in the right ? I'm truly confused because that doesn't really make sense to me. If it's a two year lease , he has to wait for that lease to end so he can raise the rent, is my understanding and how it's always been. Idk why he's trying to be tricky and weird.
