Look okay to me. New Fs is root and the other is just being mount on home.
Ummm... yeah, seems like you are... unmount sda4, then the installer probably won't see the drive/partition.
I went back to check and if I ask to format /dev/sda4 it adds the "NEW FILESYSTEM:" bit in front of the line so apparently it doesn't format it :)
I can't be sure to be honest, I always use the "clean install" approach (remove everything data related, wipe, partition, install).
I wouldn't risk it though, if it's easy to just remove the HDD physically, I'll do that first, then install.
Both partitions are on the same disk. I did a few checks and ended up going for it. It worked fin I'm now trying to get my xmonad to work x)
Cool, glad it worked out OK 😊 👍.
This is why, whenever possible, I put /home on a different physical drive, so I can literally remove/unplug it if I'm doing something risky like a format or dd.
Tricky. As someone who has nothing to lose here I'd say go for it. The dialog says that sda4 will just be mounted. However, if this was my machine I'd probably not mount sda4, install the system, and mount sda4 after the installation. Ok, you then have to add the drive to fstab but... so what. Just one additional step to be save.
I decided to risk it and it was fine :)
Awesome! Im really wanting to change my main machine to void after using It in alternate machines. Backup or not formating home ia one of the reasons im delaying the ida a bit
The installer asks you if you want to format for each partition so it's fine.
Still I should have backed up my data and would recommend to do it. Better safe than sorry :)
Got It, o think i will give It a shot in a month or so
