You are right. We should meet somewhere in the middle. If fans have a say all the time, we will end up with immature content in the long run; and if critics have a say all the time, “entertainment” will lose its meaning.

But are films for all or just critics? Shouldn’t films be judged off the impact to the audience

Cos critics know the art and the grammar of film making better than many of us.

Every time I watch a movie or show I go check their ratings on rotten tomatoes. Most the time I am shocked because there is a massive disconnect between the critics and fans. Why have critics when it feels like the majority of movies and shows have over a 10% difference?
