Adm Club Access when NOT flying American

Wife and I are flying another carrier but would like to use Admirals Club. Access is through my CC.

1. What's the best hack for doing this?
   1. My thought is to book the cheapest AA fare I can find and then cancel it once in the club. I realize this will probably result in a travel credit, not a refund.
2. Is there a time limitation on this?
   1. Some T&Cs for lounges say you can only be in there within 3 hours of your flight. I didn't see any such limits on the Admirals Club T&Cs.
3. Odds they come and kick us out after I cancel the flight?
   1. I have never been in an Admirals Club and had anyone ask to see my boarding pass or other documents after entering. How common is this? Perhaps the bartender would ask me after my 5th hour/3rd cocktail?

*Edit to add that day-passes for all other lounges in my airport require a same-day boarding pass for entry. So, that's not a workaround.
