Are Roland VAD Acoustic Design Electronic Drum Kits Loud?

I know the Roland VAD series Acoustic Design e-kits have mesh heads on the drums, but those full size shells look like they could still create significant acoustic noise when played, especially the bass.

Any VAD owners care to chime in here on this? I want to make sure I'm not going to be annoying the neighbors. I'm trying to decide between TD50KV2 and the VAD706. I love the look of the VAD but if its still loud then perhaps I should be thinking about the TD?
