Primary/elementary teachers

I'm applying to be a elementary teacher with the intent on becoming an international teacher after training. My questions are, do elementary teachers get paid less? Are there as many opportunity for elementary teachers and what is the overall workload like in comparison to teacher in the UK. Any information is greatly appreciated!
