Redditors with diabetes: I need your help! What is something that you wish your doctor/pharmacist told you about diabetes?

I'm currently in pharmacy school, and I want to create a project to educate diabetes patients or make their lives easier. You know, make the world a better place and such :)

Is there anything you had to learn the hard way about diabetes? Anything you wish you knew and currently don't? What could healthcare professionals do to make your sucky disease better by at least a little bit? (aside from, you know, finding a cure and stuff)

Any input is greatly appreciated :)
