Alterations cost more than anticipated
Picked up my Casablanca dress yesterday and took it to alterations for my first fitting. It fits very nicely with the exception of the hem.
The hem is about 1/2" too long, and needs to be shortened. While most dresses come long and you have to hem them regardless, Casablanca dresses are made to your height with shoes. The shoes I wore for fitting and the actual shoes I'm wearing are different by less than 1/4". So the dress should not have needed alterations on the hem if I were measured properly the first time. The hem costs $125.
I was expecting a bustle cost of $75, but was not expecting the additional hem of $125.
I don't make fits over things. Should I complain about the hem being needed or do I suck up the charges since technically I did wear 2 different shoes? (Financially, I can afford the additional cost.)
UPDATE: Being nice paid off, after calmly talking to the manager and thanking the seamstress for her time, they are doing the hem without charging me.
