So apparently almost every single one of my ex-collegues has been harassed at least once.

I was really surprised about this. I had so far close to never heard about any woman around me being harassed. And I'm not talking about casual cat calling, but aggressive harassment or attacks.
Now yesterday the staff of the shop where I worked for about 1.5 years had their christmas party and since I quit just a few weeks ago, they decided I should come, though. Later that evening harassment became a topic of conversation.
Now three others had already gone home, but every single one of the remaining ladies had at least once been harassed on the street. I can count myself in, although in my case I could fend the guy off by saying "No, fuck off" often enough. Two others had not been that lucky. One was rescued by the driver of the bus she rode in, who brutally pulled away the guy, who kicked and choked her (note: she had never seen that guy before). One was beaten up in front of the station during afternoon, surounded by witnesses who did absolutely nothing.

Could someone please tell me that there are at least some women who have not been harassed and/or attacked? Is this society really so fucked up, that you can't walk around the town alone? (apparently it doesn't evenmatter, whether it's day or night)
