Fittit, it is Sunday. Tell us your Victory this week.
It is Sunday, 10:30am in Bangor, Maine. It is time that you sit down for a moment, stop whatever else you are doing, consider all the things you did for your fitness this week, and answer one simple question: what was the one best thing you did this week on behalf of your fitness? What was your Fitness Victory?
Perhaps you ran a distance you've never run before. Or maybe you stuck to your planned calorie/macro targets, hard -- or even easy -- as that may have been. You could have gone to the gym, just once, and lifted your program --- nothing more than you expected, but you did it just the same. Did you swim the greatest lap ever? Or did you finally break 400lbs on your deadlift? Did you realize that your grip in your dips was holding you back, and, changing it, hit a new PR? You know, it doesn't really matter whether what you did was epochal, or quotidian. What does matter is, it was the greatest thing you did during this one seven day period on behalf of your own fitness, and that you stop, you notice it, think about it for a moment as the peak of a mountain line which continues to reach ever greater heights, before you move on into a bigger and greater week. We want to hear about it!
Here are last week's Top five fitness Victories:
-
Tailend22 (122 points) Went to the gym today - Normally I just mess about with the machines, always a bit too timid to go over to the freeweights, especially the squat rack, bench press etc. Pushed out 3x5 on the bench - Only with the bar though, because I'm a weakling. It was quite a bit step for me though, not nearly enough as worried about what everyone else thinks now.
-
Ostrichman (124 points) Summer 5k run time (my first ever): 35:00. Thanksgiving 5k run time: 23:20. Feelin good.
-
tired_papasmurf (115 points) After about a year of working out, I finally managed to do a full five reps of 225lbs on my bench on thursday. It felt incredible to actually accomplish it. Two 45lb plates each side yo.
-
dreadlocks1221 (94 points) At thanksgiving, I saw all of my cousins who I only see maybe once or twice a year. They were all commenting on how much bigger I've gotten and even started swolesting me. I ended up pressing one of them over my head.
-
halfbrit08 (85 points) Got my 1000lb total. Feels good. Edit: 320/300/395 180lbs 5'11".
The "You're Awesome" Spotlight.
This week, the spotlight shines on yenComity who, for the first time, performed unassissted dip, pull-up and chin-ups. It's great to perform a fitness feat for a first time, and realize the improvement you've had. For passing through a great moment in your fitness: yenComity, You're Awesome!
The "You're Awesome" spotlight is an occasional feature of Victory Sundays, wherein I select a deserving recipient to receive the eponymous adulation, in celebration of their previous Sunday's Victory. If you want to nominate someone for the "You're Awesome" spotlight, simply respond to their post with "You're Awesome!"
