Soles coming off of old unworn Jordans?

Hey guys, first of all sorry for me having a hard time to explain my problem, as I'm not a native english speaker.

I'm about to buy unworn White Midnight Navy Jordan 6ers from 2000 and a friend told me about a problem of the soles of unworn Jordans.

Is it true, that sometimes the soles can come off, break or become porose because of diluents that vaporize?
