Where/ What are you working as? (x-post from r/bangkok) Need tips as a first timer working in Bangkok

Just curious to see what kind jobs are people in reddit are currently holding ? Include location too ? Has there been meet ups done ? Perhaps network a bit or just hang out ?

I'll be working in Bangkok to help market a company's range of products regionally/internationally. Lodging/transport/food wise I believe I got it covered.

Looking for tips on getting along with the local folks. I'm from Malaysia and was wondering what would you do to get along with the my fellow work mates.

There'll be communications issues given that I don't really speak Thai and only a handful of people speak English.

What should I avoid asking / What should I be asking them when we first meet up ?

What other social norms should I be aware of? Smiling helps and nodding :) Definitely will try to pick up the language. What do folks usually talk about here and what subjects are usually taboo ? Malaysia/Thailand have a fierce football rivalry and I know the Royal family is pretty much taboo what else?

Thanks, looking forward to hear from all of ya !
