Bottom half of screen not working well

The bottom half of my Kindle's screen isn't working right. Sometimes it's all smudgy, sometimes it's really faded. I'm within the warranty, but I was wondering if anyone has had this happen, knows if there's much trouble getting it replaced, or what could cause it?
