DSLR help for a noob

Hi there folks, I recently came into possession of a beginner DSLR camera, the a Sony a230, and I was wondering if you could share some tips and tricks for the settings. I have never owned another DSLR so I'm trying to learn more about Fstops and shutter speed and getting professional looking photographs by basically just taking pictures non stop and adjusting constantly haha.
