Do 5:4 rhythms always have straight quarter notes on the 4th and 5th beats?
So after a few years learning piano I've managed to learn a few songs with 5:4 time signatures (Take Five, Mission Impossible Theme, When Your Mind's Made Up, Yer Fall). Came to the realization that all 4 of these songs, regardless of what kind of tricky rhythm they might do for the first 3 beats, simply have quarter notes right on beats 4 and 5.
Is this just a coincidence of the 4 songs I've learned, or is that always (or almost always) the case for 5:4?
