Hand saws

looking to pickup a good handsaw and miter box. Being as i am military and move often, i want to build up my hand tool collection rather than getting bigger heavier stuff (IE miter saw, planer, etc) the exception being i want a decent table saw, though it will probably be a portable model. BUT, i digress. looking for recommendations on a good hand saw (or a couple) and miter box. Any and all suggestions and justifications welcome.

Also, made this self post so that it can be up voted for other novices to see, and i don't get karma (not that i care about karma)
