How I'm doing almost 3 months later: It gets better, I swear! Hang in there. -- Started going on dates!

You can check my post history to look up my story if you'd like!

It's been almost 3 months (about 2.5ish, but I've stopped keeping explicit track).

Recently, I've decided to start going on dates again. I found that I was beginning to get really sad when I started thinking about the dates my ex and I would go on. We went to the movies almost every week, cooked together, went out for dinner together, would grab coffee and go for walks, etc, etc. I really missed going out and doing those things. And when I started missing doing those things I'd start to miss him especially.

I've been spending a lot of time with friends but between all of our work/school schedules, it can be kind of hard to find someone to catch a movie with you at the last minute or who just wants to grab coffee and hang out. I felt like maybe I was ready to just go on casual dates, and see what else is out there.

It's been a very good experience for me so far. I met a couple people off an online dating site, went on a couple dates, and actually had a really good time. The guys I met were really awesome: had their lives together, were funny, good-looking, etc, etc. It's been a very good step forward.

Going on dates has kind of made me realize how much I need to just be single right now, though. I'm not ready to jump into another serious relationship and I think I really need time for myself. Which is good, because now I'm pretty content and I think I'm officially a happier person now, than I was even before my break up.

I have been in touch with my ex, who I need to see soon so that he can pay me back a bunch of money. I think by the time I see him I'll be okay. Probably a bit sad but it still makes me sad. Something that particularly bothered me though was that it doesn't sound like he's made any particularly positive changes or progress in his life since the break up. Which kind of upset me, because then why did he break up with me if he wasn't intending on living better without me? Also, I still care about him. However, it definitely made me realize and appreciate my own progress. I didn't miss a beat in moving forward and making only positive and productive choices. I didn't realize how far I've come or how well I've been doing. They say that living well is the best revenge; I am living well but I didn't even do it for revenge. I did it so that I could make myself feel better. And I have.

I can honestly say that I'm genuinely a lot happier now, that I love myself even more and really appreciate my life. Sadly, I wouldn't be at this point if it weren't for the break up.
