Muscovado Simple Syrup, possible?

I posted regarding starting a home bar, and have just aquired some of the basics. I want to make a simple syrup, but I only have brown muscovado sugar at home. Can you still make simple syrup using that type of sugar or will the stronger molasses taste ruin cocktails? My intuition says it should work fine, especially with rum drinks but I don't actually know, so I thought why not ask you guys. :)
