Thinking about getting a Ruger Rimfire SR22 (first gun)

I've heard many good things about this specific gun, but I'm not too sure what the difference between Rimfire and Centerfire is.

Can someone please explain the difference? And I would love to hear opinions about my possible purchase!

Thanks
