[Discussion] Questions about Carl Sagan's "Contact" (no spoilers please)

I loved the movie and I'm a huge Carl Sagan fan. However, I've never read the book. My question is whether the book goes more into SPOILER. The movie has only a single brief shot of SPOILER. Does the book have more SPOILER? The brief scene from the movie of this left me wanting more. Or was that the general intent of the book as well?

Also, does the book go into more depth with the SPOILER? This dynamic is one that I'm very interested in and would love to see an in-depth treatment of it by Carl Sagan in this book. Again, the movie only spent a brief amount of time exploring it.
