My Buddy left unexpectedly...

My dog of 16 years, passed away 8 hours ago. I am a student aboard and I was not able to be there for his final moments. He was in the backyard doing his usual thing, but apparently he fell in the pool and drowned. It really sucks that he had to go that way, we all were hoping he would pass in his sleep, he was pretty old and was really sick, he had a bunch of tumors and cancer as well.

It just really sucks because we also lost our other dog many years ago in a non natural way, he had to be put down because he got paralyzed and was in pain. I kinda hoped that this guy would atleast live a good life and die in peace, I really wanted that for him :(. I keep wondering if I had actually been there maybe I could have heard something n saved him.. i can only hope that he is in a better place, i just hate that his final moments were of intense suffering, he really didn't deserve that.
