How does an introvert such as myself get along better with an extrovert roommate?

First I just want to say that this might be a bit ranty so I'll make a tl;dr at the end. If this belongs in another sub then please let me know.

I have always seen myself as confined and somewhat a loner but I will never pass up an opportunity to meet new people. Being 25 and never having a roommate seems like an experience I would like to try out at least once. I feel like the fact that I don't talk much unless it's about a subject I know about and in that case I go on for what I later feel like is too much. Most of the time I just want to sit here read a book and listen to music all day and paint. Though I relish our deep conversations and rarely partake in small talk. Knowing my (seemingly) shyness to others I'm just not sure how to express myself and not feel awkward doing so.

Relationships to me are important but I don't have many friends... I have maybe two that I would call best friends but they mean a lot to me. Mainly because I feel like I'm alone in the way I think/am. I am easy to get along with I believe but I noticed that I can seem like I have a lack of empathy and just can't relate to other peoples feelings. Like I might be an asshole by saying something I believe in but I don't see the point in sugar coating it.

My question is, what practices and etiquette should I put forward to have a better living situation? We don't hate each other but I have heard that I am the "quiet, depressed, nihilist, and weird but interesting" roommate. Be harsh if you'd like, I live in reality and appreciate truth over white lies. Roommate might be a redditor therefor the use of a throwaway account
