First Android Phone, have a few questions.

I should be getting my Nexus 4 in a week or two, and am mainly concerned with the overheating. How do I root the N4 and put Faux's kernel on it? This'll be my first Android (I lurk around r/android a lot though and kinda know my way around the OS already), and although I won't do a ton with the root at first, I'd think putting the better kernel on it would make the phone last longer.
