I just saw Iron Sky and it sucked. What films have you seen under the guise of it being a brilliant film only to discover it's crap? [SPOILERS]

As the title says, what film have you seen under positive advice to then discover how ridiculously crap they were?

I have only just finished watching Iron Sky. Wow, just wow it is so horrible on so many levels it made me weep for my life. It even made my eye balls want to jump out of their sockets, pack a miniature suit case and go on a holiday away from my brain. I was even advised by many of my friends that, "if you liked Dead Snow, you'll surely like Iron Sky!" Never on such a astronomical scale can you rate a film like Iron Sky up with the likes of Dead Snow.

Lets start with the acting. By god that was some horrible acting. Have you ever seen a pornography film with a story line where the actors are best suited to getting the deed done than holding believable dialogue? Well, that's the sort of acting we are talking about here. It is just horrid. Their placement on camera never appeared to be quite right, their spoken dialogue was much like you would find in a high school play and their on screen actions and reactions do not look believable. It looks like they are trying to follow cues that they had rehearsed just a little bit too many times. I just kept asking myself, 'So when is the plumber coming?'

Science, everyone loves science bar the southern states of America. (Relax Republicans, I kid.) I just look at this film and my scientific mind weeps. Now I am not an astro-physicist but I do know nothing can fly that straight though space from Earth to the Moon, even under the power of rockets. It just does not work that way, you need to set your shuttle on a trajectory defined by the rules of orbiting and gravity (of which without one there would not be the other). This is not Star Wars or Star Trek, we just do not have that type of technology or laws of science to allow us to do that sort of thing, especially for some Nazis that have been sitting on the dark side of the moon for 60 odd years. Now a lot of you are probably thinking, 'Relax, dude. This is just science fiction, any rules can be made here.' I would say you have a point, except they try to implement it with earth made space crafts that look like slightly modified satellites. It is like your neighbourhood sex offender trying to sell you Girl Scout treats at your front door, you wouldn't buy it.

Plot holes and inaccuracies. This astronomical monstrosity of a film hands them out by the hand full from a very large bag. Now, I'm not going to mention that there is a female president of the United States of America, this is very much a believable idea that can happen. Hell Hillary Clinton gave it a damn good shot. So you don't need to worry about the woman as a president rant. What I dislike in this movie is that they chuck almost every procedure or decent military strategy in the bin. It was ok up to the point where the Moon Nazi's started to fire against Earth. The president reveals that they do have a space battle cruiser to use to fend off the Nazi's. "Lol, sorry UN, we actually do have weapons in space! sniggers" again but the rules of science and the weapons displayed, cannot happen in the set era. Also the ship is captained by a fashion tycoon who happens to be the Presidents friend. Who would you choose to captain your brand speaking new space battle cruiser? A high ranking Air Force or Naval officer with command and battle strategy experience or some middle aged woman with large breasts and a temper the size of Hitlers himself who only focuses on getting back at her ex nazi boyfriend? I would obviously go for the chick too. Battle strategy, there is a scene in the film where our fashion tycoon lady is in the moons atmosphere and has found the Moon Nazi base. She decides she wants to bomb it with nukes over a personal vendetta against her ex nazi boyfriend against her subordinates advice to not fire due to women and children operating in the moon station. The whole film just made me shudder. Really I can go on and on all day about this but I would most likely end up getting calluses on my fingers from typing so much.

If you ever do decide to go see Iron Sky, beware, it is a B grade movie trying like hell to be A grade and it fails miserably. I have not seen a film so bad since Titanic 2. Enjoy.
