"You can try."

Our group consists of 4 relatively noobish players with one veteran DM. This difference in knowledge between us always sparks questions that begin with: "Can I...?" Unless it is truly moronic, which does happen, usually coming from one person in particular, the answer is always: "You can try."

Does anyone else get this? I feel like all DMs would be like this. Also, this is not to say I don't like the DM. I find it rather hilarious every time he says this. It's become a running joke between us all, in fact.
