First night sober at a party

So, I've been drinking since I was a pre-teen, it was never an issue with my family or anything. Last December I moved to a different country and realized just how much my family and social group depends on alcohol to interact with each other. I continued drinking until about a month ago when it really clicked in how dependent I am/was on alcohol during social interactions.

Anyway, last night was my first night going to a party sober, and wow. Everyone is so annoying. I really couldn't handle it; even my bestfriend, who I love more than anything, was driving me crazy. I felt so isolated, frustrated, and insecure.

These feelings have carried on to today. My best friend and I went to breakfast together and I could hardly look her in the eyes. All the reminiscing from last night is so over exaggerated on her part; I could hardly hold a conversation with her about anything.

So, I guess what I'm asking is, will I always feel this way? Is this just me being bitter about not being drunk as well? Did anyone else feel like maybe, everything is just different now?

I'd really appreciate any tips or advice.
