Losing interest in my LDR because of awkward circumstances and starting to fancy someone else, help!
Me: 23, London Him: 25, Ireland
So, my boyfriend and I have been going out for 2 years, and only became a LDR 9 months ago when I moved to London for my dream job. Originally the job was a part-time contract for 2 years and I planned on moving back to Ireland when it finished. I've now managed to become a full-time permanent employee, and I can easily see myself settling in and moving up the career ladder here.
My boyfriend is unemployed, and has been for the last 2 years. Originally he was hoping to do a PhD in Dublin, but when his application for funding was rejected, he had no backup plan. He doesn't know what to do with his life and he's at a bit of a loose end. I thought that he'd start applying for jobs in London, and he has applied for one or two, but he mainly looks for jobs in Ireland. It's a touchy subject to bring up, but I get the impression that unless he manages to land an amazing job here, he won't move.
Originally, my goal was to stay here for 2 years and return home. But this really is a career opportunity that I can't pass up. I'm not sure where the future of this LDR is going anymore unless my boyfriend decides to move to London.
I've started to develop a pretty strong crush on a guy at work even though he's less attractive and probably less funny than my boyfriend. Somewhat terribly, I've started to lose interest in my boyfriend. I've been through enough now to know that you shouldn't dump a guy because you like someone else, but I can't help but be attracted to the guy who has a good job and knows where he's going in life. I really don't want to lose interest in my boyfriend, but I feel that at the moment, my relationship doesn't have a future.
Help!
TL;DR: I want to live in London permanently, boyfriend is unemployed but not looking for jobs here, I've started to fancy someone else and I'm losing interest in the LDR.
