Does public safety go around and do courtesy mirror folds or something? What the hell happened to my car last night?

I drove into campus so I could DD my friends home last night from a party. I parked on Market St, right under the rec center and a street light. I get back to my car at 2am and there are finger smudges on every window and the hood (but mainly on the passenger/curb side), then my driver's side mirror was folded in. No damage other than needing a car wash, but wtf??

My only guess is that public safety or the cops saw someone fucking with the car, chased them off and folded the mirror in. Is this unheard of? Just really wondering because I was in a pretty busy area (considering).
