LPT: Swedish fire torch/Canadian candle
The Swedish torch ( also called Canadian candle ) is a way to make a fire which protects it from wind and generally terrible weather. Basically you put some logs or branches in a square or honey-comb pattern, and light some kindling in the empty spaces between the fuel. If you got a chainsaw you can also make it from a single large log by slicing it like a pizza.
It burns quite slowly from the inside out, and the fuel itself protects the fire from the wind, while still allowing enough air in to keep the fire going.
This version is quite cool and easy to make: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kFKzvWDeiFc
