Looking for some of your favourite passages that might be appropriate for a short speech at a wedding.

We're putting together some text for our wedding ceremony and I'd like more than anything to keep it short and non-cringeworthy, also probably better to be non-religious. I feel like there are dozens of options that I've read myself but I just can't remember any specifics now and I've never been clever enough to take notes.

Can you guys suggest some selections that might work? It can be a little vague and a little quirky. Some of my favourite authors in no particular order: Salman Rushdie, Ken Kesey, Alan Watts, Terry Pratchett, Margaret Atwood, John Steinbeck, Neal Stephenson, Wilbur Smith, John McPhee, Bill Bryson. I'm missing a lot of important ones but lets leave it there.

(Edit: I feel like there must be something special about commitment in East of Eden or Grapes of Wrath that isn't too depressing, so I'm going to start looking there).
