After reading many success stories, I also won my first FNM!

I only really started playing FNM's since about 2 months ago, I used to play good old casual magic and started about when Guildpact just came out.

After doing pretty bad with U/W Humans (going 1-3 twice), having a bit more success at drafting (two 2-1's, and a 1-2), I revamped my deck into G/W Humans, the first time I played the deck I went 3-1, and only lost to a mirror match.

Then friday, at first I even didn't feel like playing because I was convinced my deck was pretty bad, but I just went on and play for fun.

First match, against zombies. At one point I I had 5 life, and the opponent had 20, I could swing with my Sublime Archangel for 18, but it felt extremely risky, one right draw for him and he would've won, so I didn't attack, block efficiently, eventually went down to 1 life. But I still managed to beat him. 2-0

Next match was against a UW control deck, but he just didn't draw the boardwipes he needed. I went 2-0 after 10 minutes, then we played another game for fun, which took about half an hour, which he won.

Third match, against GWB Midrange I think (key cards were Thragtusk, Restoration Angel and Unburial Rites). First game he mulliganed to 5, but still managed to beat me, because of a crucial selesnya charm on my Sublime Archangel. After this I felt like I was going to lose, but I just tried my best and managed to beat him after playing around Selesnya charm by just attacking with multiple creatures while having Sublime Archangel on the field. 2-1

Final match, I felt really tense as I never was a the "finals" before, and I was playing against arguably the best player there (he wins about one third of the FNM's he attends to). He played some kind of UWR deck, with cards like Geist Of Saint Traft and Restoration Angel. After beating him down game one, he managed to gain control game 2 and it was pretty much over. Last game I even got stuck on 2 mana, had stuff on the field like a Champion Of The Parish, a Fencing Ace with Racnor, and Thalia. Had him down to a few life while he has 2 Resto Angels and a Geist. I pass the turns, and he says: if I draw another land, you win. And he drew a land, showed his hand, which had 3 more lands and shook my hand.

I was so stoked to win a FNM, won the Pillar Of Flame promo and 6 boosters. A few things about the deck I found out:

Fencing Ace + Rancor/Sublime Archangel = Amazing. Thalia and Fencing Ace are extremely strong against zombies (both easily able to block Gravecrawlers and such). Wild Beastmaster is probably going to be cut (it works fine with Rancor, but other than that it's crap). Silverblade Paladin is probably the best card of the deck.
