Anybody have tips or advice for producing extreme industrial metal?

I started a recording project on the basis of industrial death/black metal (mostly black) a while back, and I'm having a really tough time finding a happy medium between industrial/ebm beats and the sounds of death/black metal. I listen to plenty of industrial metal, but I can't think of an artist who has the exact sound I'm trying to achieve. Blut Aus Nord, for example, sounds to me like black metal with some industrial instrumentation. Rammstein and Rob Zombie and such sound like industrial rock beats with simple, poppy guitar riffs.

Everything I record seems to be either black metal with a few synths and a dirty drum set, or industrial with more guitar than usual. The sound I'm going for would be something like a mixture of Combichrist and older Dissection, but it seems impossible to get enough of one sound without sacrificing the other.

anyone else trying for a similar sound? How do you do it?
