Tetsuo the Iron Man
Last night I finished watching one of the weirdest movies I have ever seen, Tetsuo the Iron Man. I was wondering if anyone else had seen this crazy, acid trip of a movie and would like to either try and explain what the hay was going on, or just share their thoughts. Going into this movie I was told that it was cyberpunk, but I wasn't prepared for this. Spoilers ahead if you really, really want to watch it. Besides, this movie is too off the walls for words. Warning, this movie is graphic, and I'll try and omit parts that seem too disturbing, but I might have missed something. Here's what I got out of the movie: Crazy man #1 shows that he is crazy by slashing his leg open and jamming a metal rod inside. In a flash of sanity he realizes what he did was really, really stupid, and he runs away seemingly trying to get help. He then gets put out of his misery by getting run over by a car, or so we think. He disappears for a while. Crazy man #2--not so crazy at this point--sees that he has a piece of metal sticking out of his face that spurts blood if he tries to touch it. After bandaging the anomaly, he goes to work. Time passes. He gets off the train and sits on a bench, creeping out the lady next to him. They both see a chunk of bio-metal-scum-something on the ground, and the lady decides to do the only sensible thing and poke it. The strange metal then sticks to her arm and turns her into a homicidal cyber-zombie and she attempts to kill crazy man #2, but gets killed and only succeeds in spreading the cyber-infection-thing into his body. Crazy man #2 is now possessed with the cyber-zombie disease though he seems to retain at least half his sanity. He has interactions with his girlfriend, which I am going to omit because I don't really feel like revisiting those disgusting memories, and becomes even more possessed by the metal. Crazy #1 shows up again and fights with crazy #2, both of which are fully possessed by the metal and look like Father Nurgle tried to experiment with scrap. The two slug it out and eventually absorb eachother, becoming one writhing mass of wire, tube, and rust. The two decide to charge into Japan and "turn the world into rust and blow it into space." The credits roll not with the word "Fin" or "End", but "Game Over." So, that was the strangest movie I had ever seen. While watching it I had absolutely no idea what was going on, and I almost vomited three times. I count myself lucky that I didn't have nightmares of it, that movie really disturbed me, mostly during the parts I omitted. Thank goodness it was only an hour long. Anyway, what do you think Plounge?
