My experience I want to share, maybe it will help you

Hey guys, so I've struggled with acne for a long time, I began breaking out severely around middle school solely on the forehead. These have left scars everywhere on my forehead. As I got into High School, the forehead pimples weren't as severe, but I still broke out sometimes. However, for the first time I started to breakout on my cheeks, and pretty severely which also left scars. I am now graduated from college, but throughout college and even now I break out in random spots on my face, forehead, cheeks, mouth, chin, anywhere, and I still have scars.

I will add that I was always a bit overweight, however during high school, i picked up a sport during which time I was very active, and during that time my acne cleared up a lot, however I again gained weight, wasn't very active, and sometimes I was too lazy to wash my face. Also I have very oily skin.

recently I haven't been sleeping well and started to break out, I decided to finally get serious about my acne. I feel that with this basic regimen, anyone can improve their acne situation, it's similar to losing weight, you must be dedicated.

  • I started working out. I run probably every other day.
  • I put a cloth or towel over my pillow when sleeping.
  • I started using a cleanser, toner and oil free moisturizer twice everyday (morning and night). I haven't started yet, but I am going to exfoliate 1-2 times a week.
  • I try to watch what I eat.
  • I try to sleep early, or get a good amount of sleep.

The key is to stick with it no matter what. There are days I get home in the AM, and no matter how tired I am, I still wash my face. It has only been a week, and I already see my face clearing up, and it's not as oily anymore. I'm hoping once I get all my acne to clear up, that I can deal with my acne scars.

The reason I wrote this up was because I realized after going through so many different products, that it really has nothing to do with what product you use. I would normally buy a new cleanser and wouldn't finish it within half a year because I didn't keep a strict regimen, and I didn't change my daily habits, and I'd blame it on the brand I used. The most important thing is your lifestyle. I'd say about 80% has to do with how you take of your body and 20% is what you use to clean your face. I know some people actually have skin deficiencies that cause them to have bad skin, but I think the most of us on here will benefit from this.

TL;DR Change your lifestyle habits, and follow a strict regimen to wash your face. :)

edit I just remembered one habit that I have picked up recently, that is to NOT touch your face. I try my best not to touch my face throughout the day, but I do have times that I touch my face without even knowing it, due to this fact, I try to wash my hands as often as possible.
