Ok guys, I've got a story for you. It's actually an essay I just wrote about Christianity. It's for school, and I'm hoping it's satisfactory.(I'm in 8th grade, but don't treat me like so in the comments)

Religion. It has a sort of warm, positive tone to it. It makes you feel good, doesn’t it? Christianity. It’s got such a great ring to it, doesn’t it? Doesn’t it? The purpose of this discussion is to shed light on the opinion that Christianity might not be just as great as most people think it is. In other words, I believe that Christianity sets a bad example for children, teaches them a bad lesson. It is quite normal for any Christian to object to that statement immediately, but you’ll see soon just how bad things can get in a Christian environment. Imagine being beaten, whipped with a switch, multiple times a day by a guardian that isn’t your kin, who you have been signed off to, mercilessly. Beaten, because you wrote something that this guardian disagreed with; beaten into to submission because of wetting the bed. Imagine your body, bruised all the way down. Imagine blood staining all of your clothes. Yes, this happened. In Panama City in 2010, children were sent by their parents to this camp to “learn to become real men”. This evil man who beat these defenseless children day after day was a priest. A Christian priest, nonetheless. The priest called it discipline. I call it torture. You decide which of the two it is. A student, Duncan Henderson of Auburn Junior High in Alabama, decided to create a group at his school for friendly discussion of being nonreligious. After a struggle with his school, the group was finally created. Duncan received numerous death threats from Christians taught to despise atheists. One child literally stated that he was going to “Come to school with a shotgun and kill you and every other atheist at this school” Is this a demonstration of the Christian peace? Is this “God’s will”? Another child actually attempted to choke Duncan to death during class. I have told many Christian friends this story, and have gotten responses such as “Why are you telling me this?” as if they don’t care the slightest. People need to take action, and stand up for what’s right. Christians are taught in churches that the story of Adam and Eve is true. This story contradicts evolution. This means that children everywhere, instead of looking at facts and evidence for their selves, block out evolution for this story. This is a sign of ignorance and manipulation I see in the churches in an attempt to keep people uninformed of scientific fact. This brings people to stay loyal to the Christian church, as well as other religions involving the Bible. These teachings aren’t right, and need to be stopped. Here’s something else to imagine: Imagine somebody telling you that you can’t be with the people that you are naturally attracted to because it’s wrong. They beat you for it, call you a sinner, excommunicate you, and scoff at you as you walk past them on the street. This is the treatment that homosexuals receive day after day because of how they are. It isn’t their choice, so why not just let gay people be happy? Why deny them their rights even in politics because it says so in your religion? There is a section in our constitution about the separation of church and state. This means that religious beliefs should not and cannot be the influence behind political decisions. The Christian church completely neglects this rule, claiming people should vote Bible(The more religious candidate). And one last topic: Abortion. The killing of a baby before it has been born. In my opinion this should never be the first option for a capable parent. But there are reasons behind it, as many Christians fail to see. My sister, Lauren, has a friend who cannot have children. She has a severe case of scoliosis and the weight of being pregnant would suffocate her. This means if she were to get pregnant, it would suffocate her eventually. She would have to get an abortion. It would be her only way to survive. If there was a faith-based law banning all abortion, a pregnancy would kill her. Is this what people want? And also in cases of rape, would you really want to have a child caused by a traumatic experience as terrifying as that? And every time you looked into your child’s eyes as they grew up, all you would see is that experience. It would ruin you and your child’s lives forever. Is that what Christians want? Again, I ask you, is the Christian religion really as good as it seems? All these awful stories tying into Christianity ought to teach you. The Christian church teaches bad lessons to those who take it literally. This is why Christianity is a bad example to people everywhere.
