Dating a girl that is extremely hot/cold. How do I interpret this?
Background: I'm pretty socially adept, and I know how to tell when someone is interested. Eye contact, physical touch, yada. I also know how to indicate that I am interested in a girl. Usually the signals are pretty clear. But I have no idea whats going on with this girl I've been on a few dates with, plus a couple of group social settings. All I seem to get are mixed signals from her. For the first time, I'm truly at a loss to what she's thinking. We're both mid-late 20's.
length of relationship= 3+ dates, and a few group social settings
ages of people involved= mid to late 20s
In the past few weeks, I've gotten:
*text messages right after dates, saying thanks and had fun. early morning text messages saying hello.
*cancelled dates. not responding to a call or text for a long time. implying that she isn't looking for something serious.
*reaching out after radio silence. wanting to connect again, as if no explanation is needed.
*saying that she takes things slowly and asks me to go along with it
*intense eye contact.
*limited physical touching...beyond end of date kissing and the occasional handhold (escalating the more we hang out... albiet slowly)
*answered phone calls. lengthly conversations.
*leaving somewhat abruptly without saying goodbye in a social setting.
*great conversation and chemistry when we are together (yes this is my opinion, but assume it's true)
*a pattern of being more responsive the less attention I give her, and vice versa
To my knowledge she has had no long-term dating experience. There is no other guy in the picture. She's smart, laid-back, great sense of humor, and a good conversationalist. Actually seems very normal. I really like her. But it's like she's playing from a different rulebook. This is driving me insane.
Are these just games? Am I missing a signal of something she wants?
TL;DR: Girl I'm dating is very hot/cold. It's driving me insane.
