I want to buy a rabbit but I don't know where to start or what kind to get.

I've wanted a rabbit for a few years now. I had one as a child (can't remember what kind) and I was very fond of it. I don't know what kind to get though. I live in FL and I really like the ones with the floppy ears but I would like to get the smallest breed possible. I live in a house with a decent size back yard and have a lot of free time on my hands. Any suggestions?
