Peter Schiff predicts an impending market crash worse than 2008. How would you prepare?

I just read this article, and realized I'm terribly unprepared for a market crash, regardless of whether the next big one happens in a month or a decade. I understand the nature of a crash, and I'm not asking for unconditional profits, but I want to feel prepared to at least limit my losses, so I have the following questions: How do you recognize a market crash as soon as possible? What does the investing blogosphere sound like at the start of a crash? What do you do then? Were any of you trading 4 years ago? General advice?
