My midlife crisis - didn't buy a car, wrote an game (boyhood dream)
Hey r/gamedev, just reaching out for some guidance and moral support. I hit my early 40's and had a few setbacks, not thrilled with my corporate career path, so went back to a first love: programming. Here's what I've got so far:
- took an online Harvard CS164 class (highly recommend!)
- spent 6 months shaping the game (I am weeks away from launch)
- setup website, twitter, and facebook, trying to build some pre-launch interest and get an emailing list, etc
This last part has an old timer like me sorta stumped! I have read some of the great posts here, and have bought books, but trying to get the ball rolling on social media from a dead stop is tough!
Anyways, thanks for any thoughts or advice!
