[Troubleshooting] Windows 8 cant install on hard drive? NEED HELP

How do i change the partition style? i just built this pc yesterday and i have been trying to download an operating system off a torrent for hours and nothing worked os i just bought a copy of windows 8 at microcenter fro $100 and nothing changed?! The hard drive is 1tb so idk why it wont download
