Reddit, what is one thing your parents said/did that you specifically remembered so you would never do the same to your kids?

When I was a kid and whenever I had to express my emotions, my dad would laugh and call me a drama queen. Needless to say I have turned into a person who shields their emotions in fear of becoming too vulnerable. so in a way, he helped but if I ever had a kid, I would never make them feel embarrassed to express themselves. Reddit, what have your parents done to you that you remembered so you never do the same to your kids?
