Computer monitor cuts to black for a second or two.

Hello r/techsupport, I searched this subreddit to see if others have had this problem, and it seems someone has but no solution was found, so I figure I'll try again.

Basically, the problem occurs after gaming for a bit. It seemed to only happen when I would play The Old Republic, but now it is occurring with other games as well. After running a game for a while, the monitor will randomly cut to black for maybe a second or two, then just turn back on. I dont lose audio, and the pc doesn't shut down.

So far i have cleaned my components, to see if maybe dust getting in the components would cause it. After this however, it still seems to occur. Any advice?

Update: It now randomly occurs with simplistic tasks, namely chatting with a friend on facebook. When it occurs, it is now more persistent. I.E. the screen will cut to black for a second, turn back on for 2 seconds, then back to black for 1 second. This repeats maybe 30 seconds at a time.
