He did come back and tell me he was wrong to do what he did and we made up. And things actually did go very well. This morning, he was sweet and affectionate. Then he started to purposefully push my buttons. He likes to make jew jokes (I am a jew, but not practicing, pretty much athiest but its still my culture). Now, I definitely don't mind jew jokes, but the way he makes the jokes it feels as though he is trying to put me in my place. For instance, one night he went on about how all jews think they are better than others since we call ourselves the "chosen" people. He says all his jewish friends won't date outside their religion, etc etc. He doesn't think jewish culture is any more special than say, Catholic culture, which is fine. I don't care, but it is weird to me that he needs to point out that jews shouldn't think they are such a superior culture.
Flash back to this morning he made a joke about "I hope those little jew kids die" in reference to watching a horror movie. Then he goes, I know they're not jewish I just made that joke because I know it drives you nuts. I was trying to hard to be nice about it, as he was calling me too sensitive and telling me to not be a baby. I literally said, " babe, I just don't like those jokes please stop." Well he didn't stop and said (knowing this would send me over the top) "I don't think the holocaust every really happened." And proceeded to tell me I am too sensitive.
At this point I had been trying to keep my rage from bubbling up, trying to stay calm so damn hard. I went downstairs and ignored him for a while. Well we were supposed to go to his niece's baptism this afternoon and I didn't go because I blew up at him eventually. He came downstairs asking if I really would not go - I secretly wished he would have apologized and asked me to please get ready and go. He didn't - instead he dumped me again (this was after I screamed and yelled so I definitely lost my shit).
He was doing all this button pushing while I was getting ready to go to the baptism. I was really trying my best to hold it together but I lost it TwoX.
Do you still think I dodged a bullet? Or am I the bullet?

Update: He just tried to get me to go to lunch with his family post baptism. He contends that I call him oversensitive too. Well, I did that when he got mad at me for not reading the restaurant menu to him over the phone as I was getting him dinner. Yea - I would say it is oversensitive to get upset when I won't read the menu verbatim to you. But that was a whole different argument. Then he says - well you showed me that one meme on reddit about the guy not believing in the holocaust." Yea -I showed it to you because it was a funny meme making fun of the guy. And I am not the one who brought up how jews should quit thinking of themselves as the chosen people bc no religion is a chosen people. So yes, I can laugh at a jew joke/meme. I was very firm in telling him I had more of a problem with the fact that he kept calling me a baby and oversensitive than I had with the jokes themselves. And yes, it was only two off color remarks that he made about jews - but what sets me off is that he did it just to spite me bc he thinks I (his "atheist girlfriend") just not care about those kinds of jokes.
On an unrelated note - he thinks I should not use the word "cunt" - i jokingly called him a cunt once. He feels it is at a level way above ....oh lets say dickhead...He says I am out of touch with reality if I think cunt is an ok word to throw around. And he even went so far as to ask his contractor (Working on remodeling his building) if he thought cunt was worse or the same as "my dick" or something similar. The contractor said -its on the same level. Perhaps he still has a stick up his butt from losing that one.
